1. Information we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your name and email address, and a hashed password (if you sign up with email) — we never store your password in plain text.
  • If you sign in with Google or GitHub, basic profile information they share with us (name, email, avatar).
  • Study activity: practice/exam attempts and answers, bookmarks, notes, streaks, XP, and achievements.
  • Messages you send our AI tutor about a question, which are sent to OpenAI to generate a response.
  • If you contact us, the name, email, and message you submit.

2. Payments

Subscription and purchase payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number — only Stripe-provided references (like a customer or subscription ID) needed to manage your billing.

3. How we use your information

To provide the service (track your progress, grade attempts, run the AI tutor, process payments), to send account-related emails (welcome, purchase/subscription confirmations, and optional study reminders you can turn off anytime in Settings), and to respond when you contact us.

4. Who we share data with

We share the minimum data necessary with the services that run Ascendo:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • OpenAI — generating AI tutor explanations.
  • Resend — delivering account and reminder emails.

We don't sell your data, and we don't use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

5. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in (session authentication). We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. To request deletion of your account and associated data, reach out through the contact form.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

8. Children's privacy

Ascendo isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; we'll update the date above when we do.
